Built on History, Open for What’s Next
The building where we’re putting down roots has a story that stretches back over a century. Here’s why that matters to us, and what it means for the community we’re building together.
Every great workspace has a foundation. Ours happens to be made of 112-year-old brick.
We are thrilled to be opening our cowork space inside the Brighton Block at 9666 Jasper Avenue in Edmonton, a building that has been part of this city’s story since 1912. Before it was a place for your team to gather, pitch ideas, and do your best work, it was a place where someone else did exactly the same thing. And knowing that history makes this space feel a little more alive.

Where It All Started
The Brighton Block was originally built between 1912 and 1913 by Ernest Brown, one of Edmonton’s most celebrated photographers. Brown constructed the three-storey brick building to house his studio and his business, “Everything Photographic”, right in the heart of the Boyle Street community. For over a decade, it was a creative hub on Jasper Avenue, a place where people came to document their lives, their families, and the growing city around them.
In 1923, financial hardship forced Brown to part ways with the building. It was a loss, but the building itself kept going. Over the decades that followed, it housed the Georgia Turkish Baths and later the Ukrainian Canadian Archives and Museum of Alberta, each chapter adding another layer to its story. Eventually, the building fell into disrepair, and for a time it sat quietly on Jasper Avenue, waiting.

A Building Brought Back to Life
In 2016, Primavera Development Group stepped in to rescue the building from further decline. Designed by Hodgson Schiff Evans Architects, the restoration was a careful and considered one. The original Edwardian brick facade was preserved and honoured, while three modern, glass-fronted stories were added above it. The result is a building that holds a century of history at street level and a bright, open future above it.
Today, the Brighton Block stands as one of the most distinctive buildings in The Quarters district. It is the kind of place that stops you on the sidewalk. The kind of place that makes you want to know what’s happening inside.

What’s Happening Inside
That would be us. And hopefully, you.
We believe the best work happens when people are connected to something bigger than their to-do list. A sense of place. A community of people showing up and doing meaningful things, side by side. The Brighton Block has always drawn people together around work, craft, and creativity. We are proud to carry that spirit forward.
Whether you are a freelancer looking for your next favourite desk, a small team that has outgrown the kitchen table, or someone who simply does their best thinking when surrounded by other driven people, there is a seat here for you.
Come see what we are building inside one of Edmonton’s most storied walls. We would love to show you around.
Book a tour or drop by and introduce yourself. The door is open.
